About the role

Northern Hedging and Contracting runs contracting operations across the NT and East Kimberley year-round.

As a mechanic you'll be responsible for keeping that machinery operational, working across both the workshop in Katherine and in the field during peak season. The work is hands-on, varied and fast-paced.

Some work is local to Katherine, much of it is remote. You need to be comfortable being away from home for up to two weeks at a time.

What you'll be doing

  • Workshop and field-based repairs and maintenance
  • Completing all servicing on time with service books and records maintained
  • Checking your own work before a machine goes back into the field
  • Ordering parts promptly through the operations team
  • Keeping the workshop clean and free of hazards
  • Maintaining your work vehicle and tooling

What we're looking for

  • Solid mechanic knowledge of agricultural machinery
  • Able to work autonomously and manage your own time
  • Good troubleshooting instincts: you focus on solutions, not problems
  • You'll ask for help when you genuinely need it, but you'll have a go first
  • Attention to detail and pride in your work
  • Clean work habits in the workshop and the field

What we offer

  • Work vehicles supplied
  • Accommodation and meals on remote sites when required
  • Work across a wide range of agricultural machinery
  • A strong, experienced team around you
